R&B Isn’t Dead. Ya’ll Trippin.

Following the epicness that was the Earth Wind and Fire vs Isley Brother’s #Verzuz battle last night, I’ve seen many posts saying that R&B/Soul is dead and/or that today’s artist can’t write this or sing that that. Instead of flipping virtual tables, I’m going to give a list of reasons why you’re WRONG. There is an entire generation of artists that grew up listening to and being heavily influenced by the OGs. They can write. They can sing. They have beautiful visuals. What they don’t have is an industry that backs them. The mainstream machine only opens the gates for a few at a time. They are only going to put money behind promoting a handful at a time. You have to have your ear to the ground to find the rest (also subscribe to this blog and I’ll introduce you to them ASAP).
