For my first post in this new space, I would like to close out Women’s History Month 2021 with some appreciation. As an Independent artist, it can be very hard to stand out in the entertainment world. Being unique and memorable are a couple of ways that the ladies on this list have pulled it off. They each manage to grab and hold attention with their wonderful gifts. They keep listeners engaged whether it’s by putting a spin on an old classic or penning something original that is worthy of becoming a NEW classic. WHY: I will always remember the first time I stumbled upon this powerhouse. It was a Thursday night at Lincoln Cafe in Columbus, OH. She hit the mic at The Ness OME (IYKYK) and I was like Where did SHE come from?! Captivating.

WHY: This woman is a breath of fresh R&B air. She can WRITE. Her vocal arrangements are melodies make me happy. Her concepts are beautiful. She gives me 90s vibes with a modern spin and I’m HERE FOR IT.

WHY: If “Issa Vibe” was a person…. I was introduced to CeeofDreams as half of the Dayton powerhouse vocal duo The Tryangles. I love her in that setting and I love watching her blossom as a solo artist too. GO SEE HER LIVE (refer back to that vibe thing).
